# Website redesign and design refresh

A website redesign is the rework of an existing site's design, structure or technical base while keeping the domain and valuable content. We redesign websites when an outdated design, an unclear structure or an awkward mobile version gets in the way of visitors. We also assess the technical options for extending the site. First we agree on what we will keep and what needs rebuilding.

Price (Website redesign): from €300 ([price list](https://techprojects.lt/en/pricing/))

## When should you redesign, and when should you start again?

If the content, the domain and some of the technical solutions still work, the most important pages can often be redesigned in stages. We suggest a new website or a move to another platform when the current system is no longer supported, its structure no longer fits, or fixing it would cost more than rebuilding.

- Outdated or inconsistent design
- Services and contact details are hard to find
- An awkward mobile version
- Technical errors and complicated administration

## What are the signs that a website needs a redesign?

A website needs a redesign when it stops customers from taking action: finding a service, understanding the price or getting in touch. The age of the design matters less than whether the site still does its job.

- On a phone the text is too small and the buttons are hard to tap
- Visitors phone to ask about things the website should already explain
- The site can no longer be updated because the theme or plugins are no longer supported
- New services are hard to add without breaking the design
- Pages load slowly, especially on mobile data

## Redesign or a new website: how do you choose?

A redesign suits a site whose platform is still supported, whose content is mostly accurate and whose pages Google already shows in search. It keeps the URLs, the links and part of the work you have already paid for. A design refresh costs from €300.

A new website suits you when the old system can no longer be updated, the code is hard to follow, or the business has changed so much that the old structure no longer matches its services. A business website costs from €500 and an online store from €1,000. If you are unsure, start with an assessment: we will compare both routes by cost and risk.

| | Redesign | New website |
| --- | --- | --- |
| When it suits | The platform is still supported, the content is mostly accurate and the pages already appear in Google | The old system can no longer be updated, the code is hard to follow or the business has changed a lot |
| Price | Design refresh from €300 | Business website from €500, online store from €1,000 |

## What website redesign services do we offer?

We can start with the single most important page or redesign the whole site. Before the work starts, we agree on which content, page URLs and features we will keep and how we will check the changes.

- Content structure and navigation
- Design and how it adapts to different screens
- How contact details and the enquiry flow are presented
- Speed, accessibility and technical SEO

## Protecting your search visibility

When we change the structure, we map the old page URLs to the new ones and set up 301 redirects. We sort out canonical links, the sitemap, metadata and internal links. This reduces the risk of losing visibility, but it does not guarantee unchanged rankings.

## Redesigning an old WordPress website

In old WordPress sites we often find an unsupported theme, a heavy page builder plugin and an old PHP version that hosting providers no longer support. In that case, changing the colours is not enough. First we fix the technical foundation: we update WordPress, the plugins and the PHP version in a test environment, and only then change the design.

If the theme is no longer supported, we suggest replacing it with a lighter theme or a custom-built one that loads only what your pages need.

## What do we keep when redesigning an online store?

When redesigning an online store, the priority is to keep the products, customer accounts, order history and the product URLs that Google shows. After the redesign we place a test order to check payments through Paysera or Montonio, delivery methods such as Omniva and LP Express parcel lockers, and order emails. If the store is connected to Rivilė or B1, we check that data still reaches the accounting system.

## Price from €300

In our price list, a website design refresh starts from €300. The final price depends on the pages, the platform, the content, the features, any migration and the site's technical condition. After the initial assessment, we separate the work that is necessary from improvements that are optional.

## Preparing for launch

When the project allows it, we prepare the redesigned version in a separate environment. Before launching it, we check the most important pages, forms, the mobile version, analytics and indexing settings. We also make a copy of the current site and a rollback plan.

## How does a website redesign work?

We redesign in stages, so the current site keeps working until the new version has been checked.

- Assessment and URL list: We record the important pages, their URLs, forms and integrations.
- Prototype of the key page: First we agree on the main template, then apply it to the other pages.
- Work in a test environment: We carry out the redesign on a separate copy that you can review before launch.
- Launch and monitoring: We switch on the redirects, check the forms and monitor Search Console errors.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I have to rebuild the whole website?

No. If the content, the domain and some of the technical solutions still work, we can update the key templates, the structure or technical components and split the work into stages. We suggest rebuilding the whole site only when the current system can no longer be extended safely or conveniently. A design refresh costs from €300.

### Will my current Google results stay?

Nobody can guarantee specific rankings, but the risk can be reduced. Before the redesign we record the important pages and their URLs, set up 301 redirects for changed URLs, and check canonical links, metadata and internal links. After launch we monitor indexing and Search Console errors so that we spot problems early.

### Can you redesign a website built by another developer?

Yes, if you have legitimate access to the website, hosting and domain, and the code and technology allow a safe takeover of the project. First we assess the technical condition, the plugins or libraries in use and the backups. If a safe takeover is not possible, we tell you straight away and suggest another route, such as a new website.

### How much does a website redesign cost?

A website design refresh costs from €300. The exact amount depends on the platform, the number of pages to update, the features and whether the site needs migrating to another system. We state the amount and scope in writing before we start. Price list prices are final with no extra fees, and new features cost from €150.
